Wholesale Bed Linen UK

We make our own bed linen. Our mills run over 300 terry and fabric air jet looms and over 200 auto hem and bando stitching machines, and our dyeing and bleaching unit uses European and Japanese technology. When you buy bed linen for hotels from Thornton Mills, you buy from the maker and not from a reseller.

Over 50,000 sq ft of fulfilment centres across the UK and EU hold our stock. Hotels, B&Bs, hospitals, gyms, restaurants and commercial laundries buy from us, and our team takes your call on 01274-299-227.

We hold ISO 9001:2015, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Fairtrade, GOTS and EU Ecolabel certificates. The FAQ below explains what each one means.

Four Ranges, Side by Side

Two ranges are plain and two have a satin stripe. Compare the key numbers below.

Range Thread count Design Fibre Weight Comes as
Valencia 130 Plain 70% cotton, 30% polyester 130 gsm Flat sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases
Seville 200 Plain 80% cotton, 20% polyester, or 100% cotton 120 gsm Flat sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases
Iberia 200 1 inch satin stripe 70% cotton, 30% polyester 130 gsm Duvet covers, pillowcases
Andalusia 200 or 250 ½ inch satin stripe 70% cotton, 30% polyester 130 gsm Duvet covers, pillowcases

We also make fitted sheets. Call us to check the range and sizes you need.

Choosing Between Them

Start with Valencia if you run on a tight budget. Our catalogue calls it a simple option for the budget conscious buyer. It is plain, 130 thread count, and comes as flat sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases.

Pick Seville for a step up. Its thread count is 200, and our catalogue calls it a luxury option for the quality conscious buyer. Seville is the only range you can order in 100% cotton. At 120 gsm, it weighs less than Valencia at 130 gsm, even with the higher thread count.

Want a striped look? Iberia has a 1 inch satin stripe at 200 thread count. Andalusia has a half inch satin stripe at 200 or 250 thread count. Both come as duvet covers and pillowcases only. Flat sheets come in Valencia and Seville, so match a striped cover with a plain sheet from one of those two.

Thread Count and GSM, in Plain Words

Thread count tells you how many threads sit in one square inch of cloth. Gsm tells you how many grams one square metre of cloth weighs. A higher number on either one does not make a sheet better by itself. Check both numbers and the fibre mix before you buy.

Want Your Own Name or Your Own Size?

Beyond the standard range, we run a special-order service. We embroider to your design, or polymark or heat stamp it. Customers can send their own sew-in labels, and we make bed linen to the sizes they specify. Every bespoke order has a minimum order:

FAQ

What thread count do hotels use, and does a higher number always mean a better sheet?

No single number fits every hotel. Our four ranges run from 130 to 250 thread count, and each one suits a different budget and laundry routine. Fibre mix and weight change how a sheet feels and wears as much as thread count does. Tell us how many rooms you run and how you wash, and we will point you to one range.

Do I need fitted sheets, flat sheets or both?

We make fitted sheets and flat sheets, so you can stock either one or both. Fitted sheets have stitched corners that grip the mattress, while flat sheets tuck in by hand. Call us if you want a mix in one order.

Should I choose polycotton or 100% cotton bed linen for my hotel?

Cotton feels soft and takes in moisture. Polyester adds strength and helps cloth keep its shape, and a blend gives you some of each. Seville is the only range we sell in 100% cotton, and we also make it as 80% cotton with 20% polyester. Valencia, Iberia and Andalusia are all 70% cotton with 30% polyester.

How do I wash and iron bed linen so it lasts?

Wash new items before first use, and wash whites on their own at the 40 degrees our care symbols show. Skip chlorine bleach, even on whites, and skip fabric softener. Sort loads by how dirty they are, pre-treat heavy stains, and keep dryer heat low to limit shrinkage. Iron cotton while it is slightly damp.

What do ISO 9001, OEKO-TEX, GOTS, Fairtrade and EU Ecolabel mean?

ISO 9001:2015 covers how a company manages quality, and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests textiles for harmful substances. GOTS covers organic textiles. Fairtrade covers fair terms for the people who grow the cotton, and EU Ecolabel marks lower environmental impact. Ask us which certificate applies to the range you plan to buy.

How do I bulk buy bed linen from you?

Send us the range, the items, the sizes and the quantity. Say if you want embroidery or your own labels, because bespoke orders have a minimum order.
